¿Sobrevivirá el quetzal debido a la pérdida del hábitat? A través de los siglos, el quetzal ha sobrevivido, desde su simbolismo mitológico en los panteones Maya y Mexica hasta la frágil especie que hoy habita en los bosques nubosos de Mesoamérica y Centroamérica. Hoy en día, el humano pone en riesgo su hábitat perturbando sus corredores ecológicos, arrinconando al quetzal que ha sido testigo de otras especies que han desaparecido de estos bosques. Narra las pasiones y obsesiones más profundas que han llevado al fotógrafo y productor guatemalteco Ricky López a aventurarse y estudiar el ave más importante y mitológica: el Quetzal.

Would the quetzal will survive due to the loss of habitat? Throughout the centuries the quetzal has survived from its mythological symbolism in the Mexica and Maya pantheons to the fragile species that inhabit the cloud forests of Mesoamerica and Central America. Nowadays humans put their habitat at risk by disturbing their ecological corridors, cornering the quetzal who has witnessed many other species that have disappeared from these forests. Tells the deepest passions and obsessions that have led renowned Guatemalan photographer and producer Ricky López to venture and study the most important and mythological bird: The Quetzal.

Ricky López Bruni

Su carrera fotográfica comienza desde 1986, trabajando en fotografía comercial en Guatemala para importantes cuentas. Ha dedicado su tiempo libre a trabajar en las montañas de Guatemala, fotografiando y documentando la vida del ave nacional, el Quetzal, durante 24 años. En 2001 empezó a trabajar en una serie de trabajos en Polaroid. Serpiente emplumada es su primer largometraje documental.

Since 1986, his photographic career focused in commercial photography in Guatemala addressing important accounts. He has devoted his spare time to work in the mountains of Guatemala photographing and documenting the life of the national bird, the Quetzal, for 30 years. In December 2001 he began a series of works on Polaroid. Feathered Serpent is his first feature film documentary.
